April/May 2004: The fun thing about the PS2 is obviously the esoteric combination of processors, solely designed to output a massive amount of triangles to the screen. It seems the SPS2 module (which is easily installed into the kernel by following the instructions) is the most advanced method of accessing this hardware, and I'm still in the process of digesting the excellent tutorial of Henry Fortuna, though unfortunately it doesn't link the VU0/VU1 code to the 3D modelling part and doesn't go into lighting issues. However, one of his students, Jonathan Hobson (Kazan) had some improvements, and I used those to start developing a 3D multiuser dungeon (available on the website as the "ps2mud" project). For now I just included some screen shots on this page. Screen shots of this project are available on horta.
